Challenging Office Dress Code for the Summer? Here are some Tips to Help (Part 1)

Does the summer dress code showcase corporate image? In most cases, dress codes are very basic and limited in scope. Dress codes are not easy to put together and often assembled without a lot of time spent on them.

Getting dressed at the office needs to project the company in a positive manner, be consistent, and meet expectations of clients. The dress code needs to be professional and should be based on year round wear, not seasonal.

The challenge becomes interpretation. If the dress code is limited it creates problems. A well defined dress policy is very clear. The problem comes with the change of seasons, cold weather layers are added, hot weather layers are peeled off. What is acceptable?

The dress code should be very clear on Professional, Business and Casual dress. It should be communicated clearly in written form for every company associate:

No see through or transparent fabrics
No garments that do not hold their shape or fit well
Absolutely no clothing that is short, tight or revealing
